简介:Nonlineardynamicresponseofnanomechanicalresonatorisofveryimportantcharacteristicsinitsapplication.Twocategoriesofthetension-dominantandcurvature-dominantnonlinearitiesareanalyzed.Thedynamicnonlinearityoffourbeamstructuresofnanomechanicalresonatorisquantitativelystudiedviaadimensionalanalysisapproach.Thedimensionalanalysisshowsthatforthenanomechanicalresonatoroftension-dominantnonlinearity,itsdynamicnonlinearitydecreasesmonotonicallywithincreasingaxialloadingandincreasesmonotonicallywiththeincreasingaspectratiooflengthtothickness;thedynamicnonlinearitycanonlyresultinthehardeningeffects.However,forthenanomechanicalresonatorofthecurvature-dominantnonlinearity,itsdynamicnonlinearityisonlydependentonaxialloading.Comparedwiththetension-dominantnonlinearity,thecurvature-dominantnonlinearityincreasesmonotonicallywithincreasingaxialloading;itsdynamicnonlinearitycanresultinbothhardeningandsofteningeffects.Theanalysisonthedynamicnonlinearitycanbeveryhelpfultothetuningapplicationofthenanomechanicalresonator.

简介:Thepurposeofthisworkistoinvestigatethedynamicfracturepropertiesofglassypolycarbonate(PC)withdiferentagingtimes.Theopticalmethodofcausticsisadoptedinwhichtheshadowspotpatternsarerecordedbyahighspeedcameraduringthedynamicfractureprocess.Then,thedynamiccrackpropagation,thestressintensityfactor(SIF)andthedynamicfracturetoughnessofagedPCareobtainedthroughananalysisofthecharacteristicsizeofcausticpattern.Moreover,bycombiningwiththeinvestigationofthefracturesurfaceandtheenergyreleaserateanalysis,theinfluenceofagingtimeonthedynamicfracturebehaviorisdiscussed.ResultsshowthatthedynamicfracturetoughnessandcriticalenergyreleaserateofPCdecreaseswithagingtimeforshortagingtimes,whereastheyhavelittlechangeorevenincreaseforlongeragingtimes.Therefore,agingmodifiesthemechanicalpropertiesespeciallythedynamicfracturepropertiesofPCnonlinearly,notlinearlyasgenerallythoughtof.

简介:Storageandretrievalofmultimediaobjectshasbecomearequirementformanycontemporarysystems.Forexample,givenanimagedatabase,onemaywanttoretrieveallimagesthataresimilartoaqueryimage.Asmanycontent-basedretrievaltechniquesfordigitalimageryuseafeaturevectorapproachtorepresentimagecontents,itisdesirabletoreducethedimensionalityofthedata,whilstmaintainingasmuchofitsoriginalstructure.Severaldimensionalityreductiontechniquesareavailable.ThemostpopularoneisPCA,whichworkswellforstaticdatabases.Inthispaper,wepresentanovelschemeforperformingPCA-baseddimensionalityreductionindynamicdatabases.Insteadofusingtheentiredataset,weonlyrecomputethePCAtransformmatrixontheupdatingdataset.Notethatthesizeoftheupdatingdatasetisusuallymuchsmallerthanthatoftheentiredata,thistechniquemayreducethePCAcomputationtimecomplexitywithoutlosingexactness.Inaddition,theupdatestothedatabasearebasedontheexistingdimensionality-reduceddatavectorsratherthantheoriginalhigh-dimensionaldatavectors,whichmayrelievethesystemoverheadforthemanagementoftheoriginalhigh-dimensionaldata.
