Thefeaturesofthecharacteristicmatrixusedinlinearintensitycorrelationreconstructionmethodsaredirectlyrelatedtothequalityofghostimaging.Inordertosuppressthenoisecausedbytheoff-diagonalelementsinthecharacteristicmatrix,weproposeareconstructionmethodforghostimagingcalledscalar-matrix-structuredghostimaging(SMGI).Thecharacteristicmatrixismadetoapproximateascalarmatrixbymodifyingthemeasurementmatrix.ExperimentalresultsshowthatSMGIimprovesthepeaksignal-to-noiseratiooftheobjectreconstructionsignificantlycomparedwithdifferentialghostimaging,eveninthecaseofanonzerotwo-armlongitudinaldifference,whichisapromisingresultforpracticalapplications.
