简介:Aplasmaarcwelding(PAW)-tungsteninertgas(TIG)hybridweldingprocessisproposed.AndthispaperinvestigatedthemicrostructureandpropertiesofpurenickelN6jointsbyPAW-TIGhybridwelding.ComparedwiththeconventionalPAWmethod,thecharacteristicofPAW-TIGweldingprocessisthatthereisnointeractionbetweenthetwoarcs.TheadditionofTIGcanenhancetheintrinsichigh-efficiencypeculiarityandthestabilityofthekeyholestatusofPAW.ThejointsmadeusingPAWandPAW-TIG,respectively,weresubjectedtomicrostructuralevaluationsandtensiletestingsoastoanalyzetheeffectofTIGarcenergyonthemicrostructureandmechanicalpropertiesofthesejoints.Theresultsofthisinvestigationindicatethatsignificantgraincoarseningwasobservedintheweldmetal(WM)andheataffectedzone(HAZ)anditisfoundthattheextentofgraincoarseningincreasedwiththeadditionofTIGarc.Andthemicrostructureinhybridjoint,withwiderweldwidthandthesmoothsurface,iscoarserthaninPAWjoint.Furthermore,themicrohardnessandultimatetensilestrength(UTS)ofhybridjointisslightlylowerthanthatofPAWjoint.ThefractographobservationshowsthatthefracturingmechanismofPAWjointsductile,whilethehybridweldingjointsexistsasbrittle-ductilefracturemode.Theoutcomeofthisworkshowsthatintheconditionofsamedepositedrate,TIGarcpost-weldheattreatmentcanimprovetheweldingefficiencyandweldingspeed.TheproposedPAW-TIGhybridweldingprocessisdemonstratedtobesuitableforweldingnickelanditsalloysinindustryapplication.
