  • 简介:Anoverviewoftheprogressonpulse-preserving,coherent,nonlinearfiber-basedsupercontinuumgenerationispresented.Thecontextencompassesvariouswavelengthrangesandpumpsources,startingwithsilicaphotoniccrystalfiberspumpedwith1.0μmfemtosecondlasersuptochalcogenidestep-indexandmicrostructuredfiberspumpedfromopticalparametricamplifierstunedtomid-infraredwavelengths.Inparticular,silicaandsilicatebasedall-normaldispersion(ANDi)photoniccrystalfibershavebeendemonstratedforpumpingwithfemtosecondlasersoperatingat1.56μmwiththerecordedspectracovering0.9–2.3μm.Thismatchesamplificationbandsofrobustfiberamplifiersandfemtosecondlasers.Thereviewthereforefocusesspecificallyonthiswavelengthrange,discussingglassandnonlinearfiberdesigns,experimentalresultsonsupercontinuumgenerationuptothefundamentallimitofoxideglassfibertransmissionaround2.8μm,andvariouslimitationsofsupercontinuumbandwidthandcoherence.Specifically,theroleofnonlinearresponseagainsttheroleofdispersionprofileshapeisanalyzedfortwodifferentsoftglassANDifiberspumpedatmorethan2.0μm.Aspatio-temporalinteractionofthefundamentalfibermodewithmodespropagatinginthephotoniclatticeofthediscussedANDifibersisshowntohavepositiveeffectsonthecoherenceofthesupercontinuumatpumppulsedurationsof400fs.Finally,thedesignanddevelopmentofgraded-index,nanostructuredcoreopticalfibersarediscussed.Insuchstructuresthearbitraryshapingofthecorerefractiveindexprofilecouldsignificantlyimprovetheengineeringflexibilityofdispersionandeffectivemodeareacharacteristics,andwouldbeaninterestingplatformtofurtherstudytheintermodalinteractionmechanismsandtheirimpactonsupercontinuumcoherenceforsubpicosecondlaserpumpedsetups.

  • 简介:Ininjectionmouldingproduction,thetuningoftheprocessparametersisachallengingjob,whichreliesheavilyontheexperienceofskilledoperators.Inthispaper,takingintoconsiderationoperatorassessmentduringmouldingtrials,anovelintelligentmodelforautomatedtuningofprocessparametersisproposed.Thisconsistsofcasebasedreasoning(CBR),empiricalmodel(EM),andfuzzylogic(FL)methods.CBRandEMareusedtoimitaterecallandintuitivethoughtsofskilledoperators,respectively,whileFLisadoptedtosimulatetheskilledoperatoroptimizationthoughts.First,CBRisusedtosetuptheinitialprocessparameters.IfCBRfails,EMisemployedtocalculatetheinitialparameters.Next,amouldingtrialisperformedusingtheinitialparameters.ThenFLisadoptedtooptimizetheseparametersandcorrectdefectsrepeatedlyuntilthemouldedpartisfoundtobesatisfactory.Basedontheabovemethodologies,intelligentsoftwarewasdevelopedandembeddedinthecontrollerofaninjectionmouldingmachine.Experimentalresultsshowthattheintelligentsoftwarecanbeeffectivelyusedinpracticalproduction,anditgreatlyreducesthedependenceontheexperienceoftheoperators.

  • 简介:In1929,AmericanastronomerHubblefirstdiscoveredthattherecessionalvelocityofagalaxyincreaseswithitsdistancefromtheearth,andthereforeputforwardHubble’slaw.ItisconsideredthefirstobservationalbasisfortheexpansionoftheuniverseandtodayservesasoneofthepiecesofevidencemostoftencitedinsupportoftheBigBangmodel.SincethentheastrophysicscommunityhasbelievedthattheuniverseisinaconstantrateofexpansionuntilSaulPermutter,BrianPaulSchmitandAdamGuyRieesdiscoveredtheacceleratingexpansionoftheuniversethroughobservationofseveraldozendistantsupernovasin1998,whothenwontheNobelPrizeinPhysics2011.Buthumanstillcannotcompletelyexplainthephenomenonthattheuniverseisexpandingatanever-acceleratingrate.Thustheauthorofthispaperstudiedtheoriginandevolutionofgalaxiesagain,andrevealedthestructureofgalaxyandprovedHubble’slaw,thenrevealedthetruthabouttheexpansionoftheuniverseaswellasdarkmatteranddarkenergy.

  • 简介:Anextendedelectronmodelfullyrecoversmanyoftheexperimentalresultsofquantummechanicswhileitavoidsmanyofthepitfallsandremainsgenerallyfreeofparadoxes.TheformulationofthemanybodyelectronicproblemhereresemblestheKohnShamformulationofstandarddensityfunctionaltheory.However,ratherthanreferringelectronicpropertiestoalargesetofsingleelectronorbitals,theextendedelectronmodelusesonlymassdensityandfieldcomponents,leadingtoasubstantialincreaseincomputationalefficiency.Todate,theHohenberg-Kohntheoremshavenotbeenprovedforamodelofthistype,norhasauniversalenergyfunctionalbeenpresented.Inthispaper,weaddresstheseproblemsandshowthattheHohenbergKohntheoremsdoalsoholdforadensitymodelofthistype.Wethenpresentaproof^of^conceptpracticalimplementationofthismethodandshowthatitreproducestheaccuracyofmorewidelyusedmethodsonatest-setofsmallatomicsystems,thuspavingthewayforthedevelopmentoffast,efficientandaccuratecodesonthisbasis.
