  • 简介:AftertheprogressivecollapseofRonanPointapartmentinUKin1968,intensiveresearchefforthadbeenspentondevelopingguidelinesfordesignofneworstrengtheningtheexistingstructurestopreventprogressivecollapse.However,onlyveryfewbuildingdesigncodesprovidesomerathergeneralguidance,nodetaileddesignrequirementisgiven.ProgressivecollapseoftheAlfredP.MurrahFederalbuildinginOklahomaCityandtheWorldTradeCentre(WTC)sparkedagaintremendousresearchinterestonprogressivecollapseofstructures.Recently,USDepartmentofDefence(DoD)andUSGeneralServiceAdministration(GSA)issuedguidelinesforstructureprogressivecollapseanalysis.Thesetwoguidelinesaremostcommonlyused,buttheiraccuracyisnotknown.Thispaperpresentsnumericalanalysisofprogressivecollapseofanexampleframestructuretoblastloads.TheDoDandGSAproceduresarealsousedtoanalysethesameexamplestructure.Numericalresultsarecomparedanddiscussed.Theaccuracyandtheapplicabilityofthetwodesignguidelinesareevaluated.

  • 简介:Thegrowthandcollapsebehaviorsofasinglecavitationbubblenearaheatedwallanditseffectontheheattransferarenumericallyinvestigated.Thepresentstudyisdesignedtorevealthemechanismofcavitationenhancedheattransferfromamicroscopicperspective.Inthesimulation,thetime-dependentNavier-Stokesequationsaresolvedinanaxisymmetrictwo-dimensionaldomain.Thevolumeoffluid(VOF)methodisemployedtotracktheliquid-gasinterface.Itisassumedthatthegasinsidethebubbleiscompressiblevapor,andthesurroundingliquidisincompressiblewater.Masstransferbetweentwophasesisignored.Thecalculatedbubbleprofileswerecomparedtotheavailableexperimentaldata,andagoodagreementwasobtained.Then,therelationshipamongbubblemotion,flowfieldandsurfaceheattransfercoefficientwasanalyzed.Onthisbasis,theeffectsofsuchfactorsastheinitialdistancebetweenthebubbleandthewall,theinitialvaporpressureandtheinitialbubblenucleussizeontheheattransferenhancementarediscussed.Thepresentstudyishelpfultounderstandtheheattransferphenomenoninpresenceofcavitationbubbleinliquid.

  • 简介:WithvonMisesyieldcriterion,theloadingrangeofNetSectionCollapse(NSC)Criteriaisextendedfromcombinedtensionandbendingloadingstocombinedbending,torsionandinternalpressureloadings.AnewtheoreticalanalyzingmethodofplasticlimitloadforpressurepipewithincompleteweldingdefectsbasedontheextendedNSCCriteriaispresentedandthecorrelativeformulasarededuced,theinfluencesofpipecurvature,circumferentiallengthanddepthofincompleteweldingdefectsontheplasticlimitloadofpressurepipeareconsideredaswellinthismethod.Meanwhile,accordingtotheorthogonalexperimentaldesignmethod,theplasticlimitloadsarecalculatedbythefiniteelementmethodandcomparedwiththetheoreticalvalues.Theresultsshowthattheexpressionsofplasticlimitloadofpressurepipewithincompleteweldingdefectsunderbending,torsionandinternalpressurebasedonextendedNSCcriteriaarereliable.Thestudyprovidesanimportanttheoreticalbasisfortheestablishmentofsafetyassessmentmeasuretowardspressurepipewithincompleteweldingdefects.
