AconstructiveproofisgivenfortheinversionformulaforzonalfunctionsonSL(2,R).AconcretelyconstructedsequenceofzonalfunctionsareprovedtosatisfytheinversionformulaobtaAnedbyHarish-Chandraforcompactsupportedinfinitelydifferentiablezonalfunctfons.Makinguseofthepropertyofthissequencesomehowsimilartothatofapproximationkernels,theauthorndeducethattheinversionformulaistrueforcontinuouszonalfunctiotmon8L(2,R)somecondition.Theclassicalresultcanbeviewedasacorollaryoftheresultshere.
