Weproposeandexperimentallydemonstrateanoveltypeofpolarizationrotatorthatiscapableofrotatingthepolarizationplaneofalinearlypolarizedlightatanydesiredangleineitherbroadornarrowspectralbandwidth.Therotatorcomprisesanarrayofstandardhalf-waveplatesrotatedatspecificangleswithrespecttotheirfast-polarizationaxes.Theperformanceoftherotatordependsonthenumberofinpidualhalf-waveplates,andinthispaperweexperimentallyinvestigatetheperformanceoftwocompositerotatorscomprising6and10half-waveplates.
