TheGAuDIarchitectureandframeworkaredesignedtoprovideacomoninfrastructureandenvironmentforsimulation,filtering,reconstructionandanalysisapplications.InitiallydevelopedfortheLHCbexperiment,GAUDIhasbeenadoptedandextendedbytheATLASexperimentandadoptedbyseveralotherexperimentsincludingGLASTandHARP.wedescribethepropertiesandconceptsembodiedbyGAUDIandrecentfunctionalityadditionsandhowtheprojecthasevolvedfromaproductdevelopedbyatightly-knitteaminasinglesite,toacollaborationbetweenmultipleteamsatgeographicallydispersedsites,basedlooselyonopensourceconcepts.Wedescribethemanagementinfrastructureaswellashowweaccommodateexperment-specificextensionsandadaptationsaswellasanexperiment-neutralkernel.
