ThearticledescribestheexperiencesofalternativematerialsforthemanufacturingoftherefractorymaterialsinthecompanyP-DRefractoriesCZa.s.Theattentionisfocusedonenergyby-products(EBP).Energyby-productsaregeneratedduringburninganddesulphurizationinthermalpowerplants.Classicalhigh-temperatureflyash(classFflyashaccordingtoASTMC618)isthemostimportantandflyashfromfluidizedtechnology(classCflyash)isthesecondgroup.IntheCzechRepublic,powerplantsproduceabout14milliontonsofenergyby-productseveryyear.Utilizationoftheseproductsinceramictechnologymeansareductionofrawmaterialcostsandalsoithelpstoreduceadverseenvironmentalimpact.ClassFflyash(FFA)andcinderfromhightemperaturecombustion(CD)wereusedinlightweightinsulationfireclaybricks.Wecanusethesematerialsasagrogandalighteningagentformaterialswithbulkdensityover900kg·m-3andclassificationtemperatureupto1150℃.ClassCflyash(CFA)isbeingtestedinawiderangeoftherefractorymaterials.Forexample,itcanbeusedinlightweightfireclaybricks,fireclaybricksforstoves,acid-resistantfireclaybricksorrefractorycastables.Therangeofpotentialproducts,whereEBPcouldbeused,isverywideandenergyby-productshavebecomeanimportantrawmaterialsource.
