On-line control of surface quality for an axially moving steel strip partially immersed in fluid under tension

Anon-linecontrolmethodofsurfacequalityforcontinuoushot-dipgalvanizedsteelstripaftercoolingispresented,whichcombinesanalyticaldynamicstheoryofathinplatewiththefiniteelementmethod.Theinherentcharacteristicsofthenon-immersedandpartiallyimmersedstripinliquidzincwerecalculatedonthebasisoftheoreticalanalysisandnumericalsimulation,respectively.Multi-parameterfittingofthedeviationbetweenresultsusingdifferentmethodswasperformed.Tooptimizethestripexcitationfrequencyawayfromtheresonanceregion,on-linevibrationcontrolofthestripneartheairknifeunderfullproductconditionswasachievedbychangingthefieldproductionparametersbasedonthefieldtestresults.Theresultsindicatethatalthoughtheaxialvelocityhaslittleeffectontheinherentcharacteristicsofthestripcomparedwithothermanufacturingparameterssuchasthesteelspecificationsandtension,itinducesexternalexcitations,includingmovingtheaerodynamicloadandbearingvibration.Tosomedegree,thevibrationneartheairknifecanbereducedbystrengtheningthesupportstiffnessofthecontactrolls.Atotalon-linecontrolprogramofsurfacequalityforcontinuoushot-dipgalvanizedpureZnandgalvannealedsteelsheetinthecoolingsectionisproposed.
