An intelligent method to design laser resonator with particle swarm optimization algorithm

Inordertodesignacomplexlaserresonatorwithmulti-parameters,themethodofparticleswarmoptimization(PSO)algorithmisemployed.Theparametersinfluencingtheresonatorstabilityandmodesizedistributionaretakenintoconsideration,andthestabilitycriteriaindexandthemodesizedistributionareusedastargetvalues.TheabsolutevaluesofthedifferencesbetweenpracticalandthetargetvaluesaresetasthefitnessfunctionforthePSO.Byminimizingthefitnessfunction,alaserresonatorwiththeoptimizedcavityparameterscanbefound.TheanalysesforthedesignexampledemonstratethefeasibilityandvalidityofthePSOmethodinthecomputeraideddesignofmul-ti-parameterslaserresonator.ApplyingPSOalgorithmintheintelligentdesignofsolidstatelaserresonatorscanrealizethe.transitionfrommanualtrial-and-errortocomputerintelligentdesignofthelaserresonators.
