Theaimofthispaperistoillustratethebenefits,andchallengestowardsprovidingmultifunctionalurbangreenspaces.TheresultsarebasedoncriticalanalysisofstudyfindingsfromdifferentcitiesinEurope,AmericaandtoalesserextentinAsia.Inner-citygreenspacesareespeciallyimportantforimprovingairqualitythroughuptakeofpollutantgasesandparticulateswhichareresponsibleforrespiratoryinfections.Duetotheiramenityandaesthetics,greenspacesincreasepropertyvalue.Toensuremultifunctionalroleofurbanagreenspaceisachieved,inparticularthesocialandpsychologicalrole,certainstandardsofquantity,qualityanddistributionwithintheurbanareashouldbeadequatelyestablished.Greenspacesneedtobeuniformlydistributedthroughoutthecityarea,althougheachdoesnotneedtobeextremelylargebutshouldbelargeenoughtoaccommodatethecitypopulation.
