摘要
Theprocessingmethodappliedtothesidesurfaceisdifferentfromthemethodappliedtothelightpasssurfaceinneodymiumphosphateglass(Nd:glass),andthussubsurfacedefectsremainafterprocessing.ThesubsurfacedefectsinthesidesurfaceinfluencethegainuniformityofNd:glass,whichisakeyfactortoevaluatetheperformanceofamplifiers.Thescatteringcharacteristicsofsidesubsurfacedefectsweresimulatedbyfinitedifferencetimedomain(FDTD)Solutionssoftware.Thescatteringpowersoftheglassfabricatedbyacomputernumericalcontrol(CNC)machinewithoutcladdingweretestedatdifferentincidentangles.Thetrendofthecurvewassimilartothesimulatedresult,whilethesmallestpointwasdifferentwiththecomplextruemorphology.Thesimulationshowedthattheequivalentresidualreflectivityofthecladdingglasscanbemorethan0.1%whenthenumberofdefectsinasinglegriddingisgreaterthan50.
