Formation of carbonitride precipitates in hardfacing alloy with niobium addition

摘要 Niobium,asthemosteffectivesecond-phaseformingelement,wasaddedintheFe-Cr13-C-Nhard-facingalloytogetcarbonitrideprecipitates.Morphologyandcompositionofcarbonitrideinthehardfacingalloywerestudiedbyopticalmicroscopy,scanningelectronmicroscopy,andelectronprobemicroanalyzer.Thether-modynamicsandtheeffectonthematrixoftheformationofcarbonitridewerealsodiscussed.ItwasfoundthatniobiumcarbonitridesarecomplexNb(C,N)precipitatedistributedongrainboundaryandmatrixofthehardfacingalloy.Underas-weldedcondition,primarycarbonitrideparticleswerereadilyprecipitatedfromthehardfacingalloywithlargesizeandmorphologyastheywereformedalreadyduringsolidification.Underheattreatmentcondition,alargenumberofsecondarycarbonitridescanpre-cipitateoutwithveryfinesizeandmakeagreatsecondaryhardeningeffectonthematrix.Asaresult,additionofniobiuminthehardfacingalloycanpreventtheformationofchromium-richphaseongrainboundariesandinter-granularchromiumdepletion.
