简介:Residualstressinducedduringmanufacturingofinjectionmoldedcomponentssuchaspolymethylmethacrylate(PMMA)affectsthemechanicalandopticalpropertiesofthesecomponents.Theseresidualstressescanbevisualizedandquantifiedbymeasuringtheirbirefringence.Inthispaper,alowbirefringencepolariscope(LBP)isusedtomeasurethewhole-fieldresidualstressdistributionoftheseinjectionmoldedspecimens.Detailedanalyticalandexperimentalstudyisconductedtoquantifytheresidualstressmeasurementinthesematerials.Acommercialbirefringencemeasurementsystemwasusedtovalidatetheresultsobtainedtoourmeasurementsystem.Thisstudycanhelpinmaterialdiagnosisforqualityandmanufacturingpurposeandbeusefulforunderstandingofresidualstressinimagingorotherapplications.

简介:Thevibrationmethodrepresentsapracticalmethodforthemeasurementofadhesionforcesandadhesionforcedistributions.Thismethodcausessinusoidallyalternatingstressesandyieldsdetachmentandcontactforcesbetweenparticlesandsubstrateofthesameorderofmagnitude.Alternatingcontactforcesofthevibrationmethodcancauseanadhesionforceintensificationthroughflatteningofasperities.Themeasuringprincipleofthevibrationmethodandtheanalysisofexperimentalresultsaredescribedinthearticle.Normaladhesionforces(pull-offforces)aremeasuredusingthevibrationmethodandthecolloidalprobetechnique.Theresultsofbothmethodsshowgoodagreementforsmallparticlesizes.Theinfluenceofthedetachmentforcedirectionisshownbycomparingtangentialandnormaladhesionforcesmeasuredusingparticlereentrainmentinaturbulentairflowandthevibrationmethod,respectively.Thesurfaceroughnessofthesubstrateandtherelativehumidityareshowntosignificantlyinfluencethemeasuredadhesionforces.Forthecalculationoftheadhesionforces,anapproachbyRabinovichwascombinedwithapproximationsofplasticmicroasperityflattening.TheRabinovichapproachaccountsforroughnesseffectsonthevanderWaalsforcebyincorporatingthermsroughnessoftheinteractingsurfaces,rms-valuesoftheparticlesandsubstratesweremeasuredwithatomicforcemicroscopyatdifferentscanningareas.
简介:Wemeasuretheelectromagneticdegreeoftemporalcoherenceandtheassociatedcoherencetimeforquasi-monochromaticunpolarizedlightbeamsemittedbyanLED,afilteredhalogenlamp,andamultimodeHe–Nelaser.ThemethodisbasedonobservingattheoutputofaMichelsoninterferometerthevisibilities(contrasts)oftheintensityandpolarization-statemodulationsexpressedintermsoftheStokesparameters.Theresultsareingoodagreementwiththosededuceddirectlyfromthesourcespectra.Themeasurementsarerepeatedafterpassingthebeamsthroughalinearpolarizersoastoelucidatetheroleofpolarizationinelectromagneticcoherence.Whilethepolarizervariestheequal-timedegreeofcoherenceconsistentlywiththetheoreticalpredictionsandalterstheinnerstructureofthecoherencematrix,thecoherencetimeremainsalmostunchangedwhenthelightvariesfromunpolarizedtopolarized.Theresultsareimportantintheareasofapplicationsdealingwithphysicalopticsandelectromagneticinterference.
简介:Logicqubitplaysanimportantroleincurrentquantumcommunication.Inthispaper,weproposeanefficiententanglementconcentrationprotocol(ECP)foranewkindoflogicBellstate,wherethelogicqubitistheconcatenatedGreenber-Horne-Zeilinger(C-GHZ)state.OurECPreliesonthenondemolitionpolarizationparitycheck(PPC)gatesconstructedwithcross-Kerrnonlinearity,andcandistillonepairofmaximallyentangledlogicBellstatefromtwosamepairsofless-entangledlogicBellstates.BenefitfromthenondemolitionPPCgates,theconcentratedmaximallyentangledlogicBellstatecanberemainedforfurtherapplication.Moreover,ourECPcanbercpeatedtofurtherconcentratetheless-entangledlogicBellstate.ByrepeatingtheECP.thetotalsuccessprobabilitycanbeeffectivelyincreased.Basedonabovefeatures,thisECPmaybeusefulinfuturelong-distancequantumcommunication.
