简介:TheproblemofacreepingflowofNewtonianfluidextrudedfromaplaneslitoracircularpipe.intheabsenceofgravity,issimulatedsuccessfullybyusingthecontinuous-pressure-elementmethod,thediscontinuous-pressure-elementmethod,theconsistantpenaltymethod,thereducedintegrationpenaltymethodandthemodifiedreducedintegrationpenaltymethodproposedbyOden.Throughcomparisonsbetweenthesemethods,itisconvincedthatthediscontinuous-pressureinterpolationschemesresultinmoreaccuratemassconservationand,consequently,morerapidconvergenceofthefree-surfaceiterationthanthecontinuousonedoes.Thereducedintegrationpenaltymethodcanfurtherreducethecostofcomputationwhileretainingsufficientaccuracyofthesolution.
简介:Theproblemofpenetrativeconvectionwiththecubicandfifth-orderequationsofstateproposedbyMerker,WaasandGrigullisstudied.Bothlinearinstabilityandnonlinearstabilityanalysesareperformedtoassessthesuitabilityoflineartheorytopredictdestabilisationoftheconvection.Thevalidityofboththelinearinstabilityandglobalnonlinearenergystabilitythresholdsaretestedusingthree-dimensionalsimulation.Theresultsshowthatthelinearthresholdaccuratelypredictstheonsetofinstabilityinthebasicsteadystatesolution.
