  • 简介:Inordertodeterminetheroleofalginate-derivedoligosaccharides(ADO)indroughtstressresistanceoftomato(Ly-copersiconesculentumMiller)seedlings,theleaveswereexposedtodifferentconcentrationsofADO(0.05%,0.10%,0.20%,0.30%and0.50%)afterdroughtstresswassimulatedbyexposingtherootsto0.6molL-1PEG-6000solutionfor6h.Changesinbiomass,electrolyteleakageandmalondialdehyde(MDA),freeproline,totalsolublesugars(TSS)andabscisicacid(ABA),theenzymeactivitiesofcatalase(CAT),superoxidedismutase(SOD),peroxidase(POD)andphenylalanineammonia-lyase(PAL)weremeasuredtoinvestigatetheeffectsofADOtreatment.TheresultsshowedthatthetreatmentwithanADOconcentrationof0.20%exhibitedthehighestperformanceofdroughtstressresistanceinthetomatoseedlingsbydecreasingtheelectrolyteleakageandtheconcentrationofMDA,increasingthecontentsoffreeproline,TSSandABA,andincreasingtheactivitiesofCAT,SOD,PODandPALaftertreatmentwithADO.Itissuggestedthatchangesinelectrolyteleakage,MDA,osmoticsolutes,ABA,anti-oxidativeenzymeandPALactivitieswereresponsiblefortheincreaseddroughtstressresistanceintomatoseedlings.Toourbestknowledge,thisisthefirstreportoftheeffectofADOtreatmentonenhancingthedroughtstressresistanceoftomatoseedlings.

  • 简介:Inordertoanalyzetheice-goingship’sperformanceunderthepackiceconditions,syntheticicewasintroducedintoatowingtank.Abarrierusingfloatingcylinderinthetowingtankwasdesignedtocarryouttheresistanceexperiment.Thetestresultsindicatedthattheencounteringfrequencybetweentheshipmodelandthepackiceshiftstowardsahigh-velocitypointastheconcentrationofthepackiceincreases,andthisencounteringfrequencycreatesanunstableregionoftheresistance,andtheunstableregionshiftstothehigherspeedwiththeincreasingconcentration.Theresultsalsoshowedthatforthesamespeedpoints,theratioofthepackiceresistancetotheopenwaterresistanceincreaseswiththeincreasingconcentration,andforthesameconcentrations,thisratiodecreasesasthespeedincreases.Motioncharacteristicsshowedthatthemeanvalueoftheheavemotionincreasesasthespeedincreases,andthepitchmotiontendstoincreasewiththeincreasingspeed.Inaddition,thetotalresistanceofthefullscalewaspredicted.

  • 简介:Seacucumbers,ApostichopusjaponicusSelenka,werefeddietscontainingnon-immunostimulant(basaldiet),0.2%β-glucanand0.02%glycyrrhizininarecirculatorywatersystemfor45days,andsubsequentlychallengedwithVibriosplendidusbyinjectionat1.0×108cfu/seacucumberfor15days.Phagocyticcapacity(PC),intracellularsuperoxideanionproduction(ISAP),ly-sozyme(LSZ)activityandsuperoxidedismutase(SOD)activityinthecoelomicfluidwereanalyzedonthe0th,5th,10thand15thdaysafterinjection.Resultsshowedthatafterthe45-dayfeedingperiod,PC,ISAP,LSZactivityandSODactivityinseacucumbersfedwithdietaryβ-glucanorglycyrrhizinweresignificantlyhigherthaninthosefedwiththebasaldiet.Onthe5thdayafterinfection,alltheimmuneparametersexaminedintheseacucumbersinjectedwithV.splendidusdecreasedinvaluesignificantly.Onthe15thday,PC,ISAPandLSZactivityreturnedtolevelssimilartothoseonthe0thday.Fortheseacucumbersinjectedwithsaline,therewerenosignificantdifferencesinalltheimmuneparametersexaminedandinthecumulativemorbidityduringthe15-daychallengingtrial.AfterinjectingwithV.splendidus,thecumulativemorbidityofseacucumbersfedwiththebasaldietwassignificantlyhigherthanthosefedwithdietaryβ-glucanorglycyrrhizinwhenchallengedwithV.splendiduschallengedseacucumberfedwiththebasaldietwassignificantlyhigherthanthosefedwithdietaryβ-glucanorglycyrrhizin.Therewasnosignificantdifferenceincumulativemorbiditybetweenthedietaryβ-glucanandglycyrrhizintreatmentsovertime.
