Heterogeneousprecipitationmethodwasusedtopreparedsurfacecoatingonself-madeBaMgAl10O17:Euphosphor.Resultsillustratethatthecoatingfilmcanbesilicondioxideinamorphousstatewith50nminthickness.Photoluminescenceresultsindicatethatthecoatinglayerpresentsanobservableimprovedeffectontheenhancementofthermalstability.Whenbakedat600℃for1h,theluminanceofcoatedBAMkeepsat92%higherthanthatofuncoatedBAMby23%.ThisprotectiveeffectcanbeattributedtothehighcompactdegreeanduniformityofthisamorphousSiO2coatingfilmwhichisservedasadiffusionblocklayertoinbreakoxygenatom,thusreleasestheoxidationextentofEu2+effectively.
