An Adaptive Uniaxial Perfectly Matched Layer Method for Time-Harmonic Scattering Problems

摘要 Theuniaxialperfectlymatchedlayer(PML)methodusesrectangulardomaintodefinethePMLproblemandthusprovidesgreaterflexibilityandefficiencyindeal-ingwithproblemsinvolvinganisotropicscatterers.InthispaperanadaptiveuniaxialPMLtechniqueforsolvingthetimeharmonicHelmholtzscatteringproblemisdevel-oped.ThePMLparameterssuchasthethicknessofthelayerandthefictitiousmediumpropertyaredeterminedthroughsharpaposteriorierrorestimates.TheadaptivefiniteelementmethodbasedonaposteriorierrorestimateisproposedtosolvethePMLequa-tionwhichproducesautomaticallyacoarsemeshsizeawayfromthefixeddomainandthusmakesthetotalcomputationalcostsinsensitivetothethicknessofthePMLabsorb-inglayer.Numericalexperimentsareincludedtoillustratethecompetitivebehavioroftheproposedadaptivemethod.Inparticular,itisdemonstratedthatthePMLlayercanbechosenasclosetoonewave-lengthfromthescattererandstillyieldsgoodaccuracyandefficiencyinapproximatingthefarfields.
