Chinabearsahighreliefinthewestandlowintheeast,withcomplextopography,totaling2/3ofthewholecountry'sareaformountains,hillyregionsandzigzagplateaus.Thereforethehydraulicresourcesareabundant,withpotentialhydraulicamountofabout680000MW,ofwhich,smallhydropowerresourceisveryrichtooandhasgreatexploitablepotential.Accordingtogeneralinvestigationinearly1980s,theexploitableamountreached87000MW,rankingthetopintheworld.
