Thisletterdescribesnumericalsimulationoftheunsteadyflowoveraslow-flyingbatbyusingtheimmersedboundarymethodbasedonthemeasuredbatwinggeometryandkinematics.Themainvorticalstructuresaroundthebatflappingwingsareidentified,illuminatingthelift-generatingroleoftheleadingedgevorticesgeneratedmainlyinthedownstroke.Furthermore,theliftdecompositionindicatesthatthevortexlifthasthedominantcontributiontothetime-averagedliftandtheliftassociatedwiththefluidaccelerationhastherelativelymoderateeffect.
