High-frequency gravitational waves having large spectral densities and their electromagnetic response

摘要 Variouscosmologymodels,braneoscillationscenarios,interactionofinterstellarplasmawithintenseelectromagneticradiation,andevenhigh-energyphysicsexperiments(e.g.,LargeHadronCollider(LHC))allpredicthighfrequencygravitationalwaves(HFGWs,i.e.,high-energygravitons)inthemicrowavebandandhigherfrequencyregion,andsomeofthemhavelargeenergydensities.Electromagnetic(EM)detectiontosuchHFGWswouldbesuitableduetoveryhighfrequenciesandlargeenergydensitiesoftheHFGWs.WereviewseveraltypicalEMdetectionschemes,i.e.,inverseGertsenshteineffect(G-effect),couplingoftheinverseGeffectwithacoherentEMwave,couplingofplanarsuperconductingopencavitywithastaticmagneticfield,cylindricalsuperconductingclosedcavity,andtheEMsychro-resonancesystem,anddiscussrelatedminimaldetectableamplitudesandsensitivities.Furthermore,wegivesomenewideasandimprovementwaysenhancingthepossibilityofmeasuringtheHFGWs.ItisshownthatthereisstillalargeroomforimprovementforthoseschemestoapproachandevenreachuptherequirementofdetectionofHFGWsexpectedbythecosmologicalmodelsandhigh-energyastrophysicalprocess.
