Anovelpentaazadentatebismacrocydewassynthesizedthroughanimprovedprocedureof1:1Schiffbasecondensationofdiformyltripyrranewith3,4,3’,4’-tetraamino-biphenylhydrochlorideusingPh2+astemplateion,inwhichthecondensedbyproductwaterwasremovedefficientlytomaketheyieldover90%.Thenthebismacrocyclicligandreactedwithcadmiumchloridetoyieldthetitlemetalcomplexwithmolecularweightbeing1200.4byTOFMSandtheλmaxbeing766nm.
